Cleaning Your Stainless-Steel Grill Without Expensive Cleaning Products

Your high-end grill is the most important appliance found in your outdoor kitchen and one of the greatest investments. You will want to keep it in pristine condition to extend its operating years and keep it looking good for longer. Grime, fingerprints, smudges, and spills do not favor this goal. To clean your stainless steel grill, you can use either chemical cleaners and polishes, or you can use some inexpensive and non-toxic homemade cleaners.

Baking Soda

Make a paste of three tablespoons of baking soda and water. Rub the paste over the surface with a soft cloth or sponge and then rinse the baking soda off with water.

Citrus Fruit of Your Choice

Citric acid is a natural degreaser. Lemon, lime, or orange will work fine. You can remove tarnish not only from stainless steel but brass and copper. Make a paste of lemon juice and salt and apply it to the affected surface. Let it sit for ten minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry. You can also eliminate those nasty fingerprints and grime by rubbing half a lemon directly on the target surface.

Vinegar and Olive Oil

White vinegar naturally removes spots, while olive oil buffs out every little watermark, smudge, and streak. Spray down your grill with vinegar, then wipe it clean. Then, pour some olive oil onto your clean cloth and rub it into your stainless steel.

Water and a Cloth

Never underestimate the power of water! You’d be surprised by the positive results warm water and a lint-free cloth can bring. Just dry the surface with a towel to prevent water spots.

With these homemade cleaners, you can clean stainless steel faster, smarter, and better. You don’t need chemical products to achieve a gleaming and shiny grill. Even better, it also works for all other stainless steel appliances!

Things to Avoid

  • Abrasive cleansers on brushed stainless steel.
  • Any product containing chloride. Chloride attack chemically stainless-steel provoking severe corrosion.
  • Dirty, gritty, or excessively hard water, as it can leave spots or brownish stains.
  • Oven cleaners.
  • Steel brushes, steel wool, or highly abrasive scrubbing pads.
  • Do not clean your stainless-steel grill unless it is cool to the touch.
